Hotfixes
Class
Demon Hunter

Guarm
- Increased the radius of Guarm's Multi-Headed from 8 yards to 30 yards on Mythic difficulty.
- Decreased Guarm's health by 5% on Mythic difficulty.
Developers’ Notes: The Mythic difficulty change to the Multi-Headed mechanic is intended to require the use of 2 tanks on the encounter. We also slightly reduced Guarm’s health alongside this change in order to minimize the effect on groups that were accustomed to only using 1 tank. This is already active in the NA/ANZ region, and will take effect in other regions with their weekly restarts.
Helya
- The magnitude of Corrupted Axion's healing absorb now properly scales down as the size of a raid decreases from 30 players to 10 players.

Quests
- On the afternoon of Sunday, November 27, to alleviate an issue where too few Kirin Tor World Quests were available to allow for reliable completion of the Kirin Tor Emissary quest, we hotfixed that Emissary quest to autocomplete on login. This was a stopgap measure while we work on a proper fix to the underlying issue; we intend for future occurrences of the Kirin Tor Emissary quest to work as expected, like other Emissary quests.
- The door leading to Furog the Elfbreaker's chamber in the Withered Army Training scenario should now open more reliably.
November 22
Hotfixes

Dungeons and Raids
Trial of Valor
- Non-boss enemies should now Death Grip less frequently.
- Helya
- Resolved an issue which caused chain and cleave effects to not target enemies that were near Helya.
- Resolved an issue that could cause the Fury of the Maw movement effect to apply to players even after the wave has passed over them.
- Helya will now instantly perform her breath attacks if its target dies during the cast, rather than failing to use the ability.
- (Mythic Difficulty) Resolved an issue where Corrupted Breath would target the highest threat tank as opposed to player who is currently tanking the boss.
Items
- Soul Inhaler and Gin-Ji Knife Set may no longer be used in raid instances.
NPCs
- Gobo the Angler Mangler should now respawn and mangle anglers more frequently.
- The Soultakers should no longer spawn one at a time. They should now always spawn as a group, and should now properly share health.

Warlock
- The Warlock Glyph of the Observer should now summon an Observer that knows Devour Magic.
Dungeons
- The weekly Grand Challenger’s Bounty now contains Item Level 885+ rewards for players who cleared a Mythic Keystone Level 12 or higher dungeon the prior week.
Return to Karazhan
- Burning Bones should no longer sometimes inflict damage to the tank instead of the player with the debuff.
Player versus Player
- End-of-match rewards from Rated Arenas and Rated Battlegrounds now get increased item level based on your current rating in that bracket, instead of your current item level.
- Developers’ Notes: While the Weekly Quests for each bracket were giving rewards based on rating, the rewards given at the conclusion of a Rated Arena or Rated Battleground weren’t aligned with the challenge involved in earning a high rating. This change makes winning high-rated Arena or Rated Battleground matches more analogous to running repeated high-level Mythic Keystone dungeons.
- Rated Battleground wins no longer have a guaranteed chance to reward an item.
- Developers’ Notes: RBG wins would’ve been far too lucrative. We’re lowering the base chance of receiving an item, but also applying some aggressive bad luck protection. While you won’t earn an item from every single RBG win any more, they’ll still be very common, and far more valuable at higher ratings.
November 14
Hotfixes
Class
Death Knight
- (Blood) The Hungering Maw now increases the player's Armor by 10%, then increases by 1% for every additional point put into the Infinite Progression Artifact Trait.
Druid
- (Restoration) The legendary item Aman'Thul's Wisdom should now work correctly with Rejuvenation and Germination when cast on other players.
Hunter
- (Beast Mastery) Spiritbound now increases the player's damage, Hati's damage, and the player's pet damage by 5%, then increases by 0.5% for every additional point put into the Infinite Progression Artifact Trait.
Paladin
- The damage from Greater Blessing of Might will no longer be increased twice by some debuffs on the target.
Priest
- (Discipline) Forbidden Flame now increases the player's damage and healing by 4%, then increases by 0.4% for every additional point into the Infinite Progression Artifact Trait.
- Shadow: Voidform’s Insanity drain now begins at 8 Insanity per second (down from 9), but will increase at a 10% faster rate
- Developers’ Notes: We want to reduce the maximum amount of time that Surrender to Madness can be maintained, without significantly impacting Shadow otherwise. Our intent in this hotfix is that it’s still effective to use Surrender similarly to how it is currently used, but that its maximum potential in ideal situations is slightly less extreme.
Warlock
- Sweet Souls should no longer completely heal the Warlock when an ally uses a healthstone.
Dungeons
- Hellfire Citadel
- LFR Queuing for Archimonde’s Fall at the Black Gate now has Anetheron, Azgalor, Kaz’rogal, and Archimonde spawned once the queue pops.
- Return to Karazhan
- Fixed an issue which could cause Galindre to not reset properly on a failed attempt.
- Trial of Valor
- Helya
- Anchor Slam should now inflict less damage to secondary targets on Normal difficulty.
- Resolved an issue where Fury of the Maw would do drastically more damage than intended on targets recently wounded by an Orb of Corrosion.
Items
- All Legion Legendary items have had their item level increased by 15. This change will be applied retroactively.
- All items from the Trial of Valor have had their base item level increased by 5. This change will be applied retroactively.
- The damage from the equip effect of Choker of Barbed Reins should scale down in Timewalking dungeons.
Player versus Player
The following PvP adjustments will take place with the next realm maintenance.
Death Knight
- (Frost) Strength reduced by 10%.
- (Blood) Blood Boil now deals full damage in PvP (was reduced).
- Developers’ Notes: Frost Death Knight damage continues to be higher than we’d like following the changes in Patch 7.1. For Blood, we no longer feel the damage reduction on Blood Boil is necessary. We plan to make a broader set of changes for them (and other tanks) in Patch 7.1.5.
Druid
- (Feral) Rake now deals 20% less damage to players.
- Developers’ Notes: We like that Feral Druids can apply a lot of spread pressure through their bleeds, but Rake’s damage feels out of line.
Mage
- (Fire) Intellect increased by 10%.
- Developers’ Notes: Fire Mages have simply fallen behind in terms of damage output, and we felt they needed an increase.
Paladin
- (Holy) Mana regeneration has been reduced.
- (Holy) Avenging Crusader now costs 110,000 mana.
- Developers’ Notes: Holy Paladins are too mana efficient in current PvP gameplay. We’re reducing their overall regeneration, as well as adding a mana cost to Avenging Crusader, since it was essentially mana-free healing.
Rogue
- Feint reduces damage taken from player cast area-of-effect spells by 30% (was 50%).
- (All specs) Stamina has been increased by 5%.
- Developers’ Notes: Feint’s AoE damage reduction is intended to protect Rogues during dungeon and raid encounters, but many class abilities that feel like single target spells in PvP are treated as AoE effects (e.g. Lunar Strike, Ice Nova). This makes Rogues unintentionally resistant to those abilities. We’re reducing Feint’s AoE damage reduction in PvP, but increasing Stamina to compensate.
Shaman
- (Elemental) Stormkeeper now increases damage of Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, and Lava Beam by 100% against players (was 200%)
- (Elemental) Intellect increased by 5%.
- Developers' Notes: Stormkeeper is at the center of a combination of cooldowns and procs that can cause extraordinarily high damage in a very short time. We're reducing its impact but increasing Elemental's damage overall to compensate.
Warlock
- (Affliction) Unstable Affliction's dispel damage has been doubled.
- (Destruction) Chaos Bolt now deal an additional 35% damage against players (was 20%).
- Developers’ Notes: Patch 7.1 changed the design of Unstable Affliction, and our initial tuning on the dispel damage was simply too low. For Destruction, we want spending Soul Shards on Chaos Bolt to feel rewarding when weighed against the alternatives.
Quests
- The weekly event quest “The Very Best” should no longer be cleared from the quest log when logging in on a low-level character.
- Kirin Tor world quests can now appear when the Kirin Tor emissary is not active.
Sound
- Players no longer receive any sound following the Quick Join notifications when friends or guild members queue.
November 8

November 3

Items
- Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus should no longer reset the swing timer.
Player versus Player
- Class Adjustments
- Death Knight
- (Frost) Strength in PvP has been reduced by 10%.
- Developers’ Notes: A number of bug fixes and class tuning adjustments have pushed Frost damage too high.
- (Unholy) Apocalypse damage is no longer reduced in PvP.
- Developers’ Notes: We no longer feel that a reduction is necessary.
- (Frost) Strength in PvP has been reduced by 10%.
- Demon Hunter
- (Havoc) Agility increased by 5%.
- (Havoc) Stamina increased by 10%.
- Developers’ Notes: With time, players have become more accustomed to Demon Hunters and how to counter them. This should bring back their damage and general survivability to help them compete.
- Hunter
- (Survival) Stamina has been increased by 15%.
- Mage
- (Frost) Intellect has been reduced by 10%.
- Monk
- (Windwalker) Agility has been reduced by 10%.
- (Windwalker) Heavy-Handed Strikes now causes Fists of Fury to only stun when cast (was with each tick of Fists of Fury).
- (Windwalker) Serenity now increases damage by 25% with the Spiritual Focus artifact trait (was +30%).
- Developers’ Notes: Windwalkers are able to maintain an extremely high uptime against their targets in PvP, and their raw damage capability was just too high for a spec that’s so difficult to get away from.
- Shaman
- Forked Lightning will no longer ignore line of sight.
- Forked Lightning will no longer strike dead targets.
- Lava Burst now deals full damage in PvP (was doing 80% of normal damage).
- (Elemental) Control of Lava now deals an additional 100% damage (was an additional 150%).
- Warrior
- Hamstring damage has been increased considerably, and now lasts for 12 seconds in PvP.
- (Arms) Strength and Stamina increased by 10%.
- (Fury) Strength and Stamina increased by 10%.
- Developers’ Notes: Patch 7.1 put Hamstring back on the global cooldown, and while we still feel that that’s the correct choice for that ability, we understand that this change had a major impact on PvP Warriors’ damage rotation, as well as Hamstring’s overall uptime. To compensate, we’ve increased Hamstring’s duration so that it needs to be applied less frequently, and massively increased its damage to help make it feel worthwhile to use.
- Warlock
- (Destruction) Entrenched in Flame duration reduced to 3 seconds (was 4 seconds).
- (Destruction) Focused Chaos now increases Chaos Bolt damage by an additional 100% (was 150%).
- (Destruction) Shadowburn now deals 20% less damage in PvP.
- Developers’ Notes: 7.1 introduced some new talents to Destruction Warlocks to increase their control and incentivize the use of cast time spells like Chaos Bolt. These talents were overtuned initially, but we want to keep Chaos Bolt as the best damage value for a Soul Shard.

- Agility reduced by 10% in PvP.
- Stamina reduced by 5% in PvP.
- Developers’ Notes: Rogues are intended to be strong, yet vulnerable to focused-fire. We feel they have too much survivability while dealing too much damage with both utility and survivability, so we’re toning them down.
- (Assassination) System Shock duration reduced to 2 seconds (was 4 seconds).
- (Subtlety) Stamina reduced by 5% in PvP.
- (Assassination, Outlaw) Stamina reduced by 15% in PvP.
- Shaman
- (Enhancement) Agility reduced by 10%.
- Warlock
- (Demonology) Doom, Doubled now increases the damage of Doom by 33% in PvP situations.
- (Demonology) Grimoire of Synergy increases the Warlock's and Pet's damage by 30% in PvP situations.
- (Demonology) Implosion damage reduced by 20% in PvP situations.
- Warrior
- Bladestorm now deals full damage in PvP situations.
- Developers’ Notes: Bladestorm is intended to be a strong damage cooldown for the Arms Warrior. In Legion Beta testing, Arms Warriors felt too strong, so we reduced the damage Bladestorm did in PvP. We feel we’re back to a place where returning it to full damage makes sense.
- Execute now deals 15% more damage in PvP situations.
- Developers’ Notes: Execute is designed to be a signature strength of the Warrior, and should always be the right choice on targets within Execute range in PvP. We’ve found that there are some situations where that wasn’t true, so we’re increasing the damage of Execute to make it always the right choice.
- Bladestorm now deals full damage in PvP situations.
- Relentless reduces crowd control duration by 20% (was 25%).
Quests
- Players should no longer fail to get credit for completing world boss World Quests.
- Players with a full inventory should now be able to complete “Edict of the God-King” and accept “Unwanted Evidence” after defeating God-King Skovald in Halls of Valor.
- The quest drops for “Uncovering Orders” should now come from the final boss in each of the three named dungeons, Assault on Violet Hold, Black Rook Hold, and Vault of the Wardens.
World
- Bloodgazer Falcosaurs should now respawn more quickly.

- Demon Hunters should now receive a cache (or mount when lucky) from Pandaria world bosses who previously had no items for Demon Hunters.
Paladin
- Blessing of Sanctuary now has a 30 second cooldown.
Dungeons and Raids
Emerald Nightmare
Cenarius
- Damage immunity such as Divine Shield or Blessing of Protection now prevents damage dealt by Spear of Nightmares.
Il’gynoth
- Rogues will no longer end up inside Il’gynoth’s core when attacking it with Shadowstrike or Killing Spree.
Items
- The effects from Jewelcrafting neck pieces should now scale properly when Timewalking.
Professions
Archaeology
- It should now be easier to obtain Jewels of Aellis for the quest "Sifting Through the Rubble". Angry Highborne Spirits should now have a 100% chance to drop a jewel.
PvP
- Warden Tower captains no longer have a limit on the number of eligible players who can simultaneously tap them.
Quests
- Alliance players are now able to complete "Full Circle" in Vashj'ir.

Hotfixes
Bonus Events
- Entering a Timewalking Dungeon will no longer clear any planted plants from the Druid Evergreen upgrade.
- The fireballs from the cooking buff "Pepper Breath" should now scale properly in Timewalking.
- Class Hall Set 6-piece and 8-piece bonuses should now scale properly in Timewalking.
Classes
Druid
- Ironfur no longer incorrectly multiplies Bonus Armor effects from temporary buffs.
- (Balance) New Moon, Half Moon, and Full Moon are now in the Arcane spell school.
Items
- Spirit Cauldrons no longer have collision.
Player versus Player
Reminder: These changes are only active while in PvP combat situations and do not affect PvE. Many more Honor Talent changes are coming with Patch 7.1, including changes to Destruction Warlocks, Windwalker Monks, Death Knights, Balance Druids, and Restoration Druids.
Mage
Frost
- Ice Form now has a 60 second cooldown (was 45 seconds).
- Ice Form can no longer be cast while stunned.
- Ice Form will now cause the Mage to be immune to only stuns, instead of other unintended crowd-control effects, such as Paralysis.
- Frostbolt no longer deals increased damage in PvP (was a multiplier of +10%).
- Developers’ Notes: Frost Mages are intended to create burst windows with Shatter and Glacial Spike, but have been reaching unintended levels of damage. By reducing Frostbolt damage, we’re reducing the potential size of Icicles and Glacial Spike burst. The Ice Form fixes should reduce its uptime, which was too high.
Hunter
Beast Mastery
- Beast Mastery Agility reduced by 10% in PvP.
- Developers’ Notes: We’ve found Beast Mastery damage to be too high, but we don’t feel that it’s due to any specific ability or mechanic, so we’re reducing the overall PvP template.
Monk
Mistweaver
- Mistwalk can no longer be cast while silenced.
- Soothing Mist healing reduced by 10% in PvP. (Soothing Mist version of Ancient Mistweaver Arts is unaffected.)
- Soothing Mist healing cast by Summon Jade Serpent Statue reduced by 10% in PvP.
- Developers’ Notes: Mistweavers been one of our strongest healers. We feel Soothing Mist is doing too much healing per second on its own, making it so that the Mistweaver doesn’t have to use cast-time healing spells as much as other healers, even when their target is taking high amounts of damage. We’re reducing Soothing Mist slightly to address this. Mistwalk was never intended to be used while the Mistweaver was silenced or locked out of Nature, so we’ve fixed that as a bug.
Paladin
- Pure of Heart no longer causes Cleanse to incur a cooldown when it removes poisons and diseases.
- Pure of Heart no longer triggers when healed by a periodic heal effect, but will trigger when a spell such as Rejuvenation is initially cast.
- Developers’ Notes: Retribution Paladins are designed to be a formidable damage dealer and also have a protective, counter-control kit for their allies. Pure of Heart is intended to “soft-counter” poisons and diseases, but we feel it’s too strong currently when the Paladin is paired with a healing-over-time healer. Pure of Heart will now only trigger when a healing spell is applied, but not periodically during the spell.
Retribution
- Blessing of Sanctuary now has a 30 second cooldown, up from 25 seconds.
- Developers’ Notes: Blessing of Sanctuary has proven to be a strong, signature Honor Talent, but we feel its cooldown is too short.
Rogue
Assassination
- System Shock now properly requires an Envenom cast with 5 or more combo points.
- System Shock’s damage has been reduced by 20%.
- Assassination’s Agility has been reduced by 5% in PvP.
- Developers’ Notes: The Assassination Rogue is intended to be a strong, persistent damage dealer that pressures targets but lacks the utility that Outlaw excels in or the mobility that Subtlety provides. We’ve been monitoring their damage and feel its higher than intended, and we’ve found some bugs with System Shock contributed to this. We’ve also altered their PvP template to effectively reduce their damage.
Outlaw
- Control is King will no longer stack Adrenaline Rush above a 3 second duration.
- Developers’ Notes: Control is King is intended to be an attractive choice for the Outlaw Rogue when within a control oriented team composition. This has worked out a bit too well. Now, subsequent procs of Control of King will no longer add to the duration, and instead will just refresh itself.
Shaman
Enhancement
- Stormstrike’s damage is reduced by 15% in PvP.
- Heroism and Bloodlust now have a 60 second cooldown when modified by Shamanism (was 45 seconds).
- Developers’ Notes: The Enhancement Shaman is intended to be a formidable damage dealer who also provides offensive group utility through totems and buffs. Shamanism has been a popular choice for the Enhancement Shaman, allowing them to use Bloodlust/Heroism frequently and also in Arena combat. We like the utility this gives the Shaman, but feel its uptime is too high. Further, we feel the Enhancement Shaman’s burst damage with Stormstrike has been reaching unintended levels.
October 12
Hotfixes

- Heart of Corruption

- Heart of Corruption
Items

- The Spear of Rethu polearm now scales properly from character level 1 to 100, now properly appears in the heirloom list, and is now correctly a 2-handed weapon.

October 6
Hotfixes
Classes
- Warlock
- (Destruction) Dimensional Rift will no longer spawn portals that are out of range to do damage to your target.
Mythic Keystone Dungeons
- The amount of Artifact Power rewarded from end-of-run Mythic Keystone chests now increases with the Level of the Mythic Keystone Dungeon.
- When beating a Mythic Keystone timer by a margin so significant that your Keystone is upgraded by more than one step, you will earn multiple loot chests as before, however, the additional chests beyond the first will no longer contain Artifact Power.
- Developers’ Notes: These changes are aimed at aligning the efficiency of the different tiers of difficulty, so that a well-geared group of dungeon experts is rewarded more for tackling a high-level Mythic dungeon, rather than incentivized to stomp an entry-level dungeon.
Items
- The Archaeology World Quest heirloom reward Spear of Rethu should now be item level 700, as intended (was item level 605).
October 5

- (Protection) Fixed a bug where Vengeance could cause Ignore Pain to consume less Rage than intended, but absorb for more.

- The cooldown for all Class Hall abilities which allow you to instantly complete a World Quest has been reduced from 3 days to 18 hours, and the time taken to complete the work order for the item used by these abilities has been reduced to 10 minutes.

- Timeless Wraiths will no longer attack players before they've been Banished In Time.
- Halls of Valor
- When Olmyr the Enlightened or Solsten are engaged, the door to Hyrja's room will shut while they are in combat.

- Fury of Elune can no longer be cast during Arena and Battleground preparation.
- Demon Hunter
- Demon Hunters now start arenas with 0 Pain and Fury.
- Rogue

- Shaman
- Fury of Air can no longer be cast during Arena and Battleground preparation.

- In the Withered Army Training scenario, it should be less likely for Leystalker Dro to be hiding somewhere that he wouldn't normally be encountered by clearing the room.
- Enigmatic puzzles should no longer become non-responsive when a large number of players try to do the same Enigmatic World Quest puzzle.
October 3
Hotfixes
Classes
- Mage
- Splitting Ice should now cause Glacial Spike to damage the secondary target for 80% of the damage dealt to the primary target, as intended.
- Monk
- Stagger now delays 40% of damage taken (was 35%), and now quickly fades after leaving combat.
- Shaman
- (Restoration) The Artifact trait Tidal Pools will now correctly heal all areas when multiple Tidal Pools are active at once.
- Warlock
- Shadowflame's damage over time can now critically strike.
- Warrior
- Shield Slam now generates 20 Rage (was 10).
- Ignore Pain’s maximum absorption has been reduced by 33%.
- Inspiring Presence no longer stacks on players who have multiple Warriors present.
Dungeons and Raids
(All dungeon and raid hotfixes will take effect with realm restarts in each region.)
- Black Rook Hold
- Mythic Keystone target time increased to 38 minutes (was 35 minutes).
- Eye of Azshara
- Mythic Keystone target time decreased to 35 minutes (was 36 minutes).
- Maw of Souls
- Mythic Keystone target time decreased to 24 minutes (was 25 minutes).
- Neltharion’s Lair
- Mythic Keystone target time decreased to 33 minutes (was 35 minutes).
- Emerald Nightmare
- Vantus Runes can now be used in Mythic Emerald Nightmare.
- Il’gynoth
- On Mythic difficulty, Il’gynoth’s health has been increased by 200%, but loses one-third of that value each time the Eye of Il’gynoth is defeated.
- On Mythic difficulty, each Nightmare Explosion now deals 20% more damage to the Eye of Il’gynoth.
- Developers’ Notes: A common strategy for Mythic Il’gynoth involved using raid compositions that focus on maximizing burst damage to complete the encounter in a single phase. This approach removes huge portions of the encounter and can overly favor a specific set of classes and specializations, causing negative social pressures in groups that have yet to reach this encounter. These changes ensure that raid groups must enter Il’gynoth’s core twice in order to complete the encounter on Mythic difficulty, but offset that change by speeding up the process of destroying the Eye to shorten the overall length of the encounter.
Professions
- Enchanting
- Crafted items that upgrade to epic quality should now disenchant into Leylight Shards or Chaos Crystals.
PvP
- Shaman Totems will no longer take unintended extra damage from players.
Quests
- Players are now able to turn in "Ritual Ruination" to Calydus in Dreadscar Rift if they don’t take the portal out of the scenario.
